Wash, Rinse, Repeat

“People often say that motivation doesn’t last.

Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.”

It’s exceedingly difficult to retain newly acquired knowledge — the Forgetting Curve is pretty steep —  unless you make an attempt to reinforce the new information.

Similarly, I think that newly acquired behaviors, attitudes and beliefs — the tools we use to keep ourselves ‘bathed’ in motivation — require a whole lot of immersion.

Apropos to the bathing analogy:  Surround yourself with positive, upbeat and resourceful people… they form the pool that you are continually bathing in. Optimists are like a bubbling hot tub — they help you cope with the inevitable grime of life. That said, if you’re are chronically negative and always see only the dark side of things, even the optimists may eventually cool off and give up on you.

In other words, bath early and often, and do not rely too much on other people’s tolerance for your body odor.

Wash, rinse, repeat.
